Speaker 2 (0:19) Welcome back to creepcast. No, I need you to be louder. We're in an intimate setting. I think this is fine Is that not good? I think you need to be louder. The what? I think you need to be louder. I don't want to be louder. I think you need to be louder. I don't want to be louder. I Speaker 1 (0:37) think this is what you should do. I think you should be, not your normal loud, but like a little bit loud, you know. Welcome back to creepcast. Speaker 1 (0:49) Today we're recording in Isaiah's favorite place on earth. We're recording. I am so alive right now. I feel... Speaker 1 (0:57) Satisfied you Speaker 2 (0:58) look like you're in the most I've been all such a great Speaker 1 (1:00) time if you haven't noticed for recording in a Waffle House This is like this is like yeah, although I clink the mug clink the mug with me for me. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah We're recording in a Waffle House This was a harebrained scheme that I had that hunters graciously allowed me to do I feel like you're my dad taking me to the park Like, oh, they've got the rides today. It's Speaker 2 (1:24) the last batch of record. It's the last of the recordings that we're doing. Yeah, Speaker 1 (1:28) we saw. This is 11. This is recording 11 and three. So Speaker 2 (1:32) this Speaker 1 (1:32) is Speaker 2 (1:32) our little like fun getaway time. Yeah. Should be good. So Speaker 1 (1:37) I'm alive right now. Today we're Speaker 2 (1:39) reading Speaker 1 (1:40) O'Malley's Family Restaurant. So the story is called O'Malley's Family Restaurant. And it was written by. It was written by. It was written by. It was written by. It was written by. Okay, I'm not seeing an author can we get a check real quick Sometimes Speaker 2 (1:57) they don't post that shit there. Well Speaker 1 (1:59) fandom. It's just like the story and they don't give a lot of detail Speaker 2 (2:02) to Speaker 1 (2:03) it Consent stand by normally doesn't happen Emily, Speaker 2 (2:08) you know right now this coffee is gonna run through me and when I do I'm taking the camera to the bathroom with me Whatever Speaker 1 (2:14) and whatever horse that happened then that's totally fine with me Everyone's gonna be a part of it You know, I boldly said earlier, I was like, oh, I'm not going to, uh, I'm, uh, wait, by IES, hold on, I think I found, I had it, but it's weird, formatted, uh, O'Malley's Family Restaurant, Creepypasta, author question mark, according to this YouTuber. Speaker 2 (2:44) Wait, so no one knows who wrote the way so O'Malley's family restaurant who? When was this written was this like a before 2010 kind of story? Speaker 1 (2:51) Oh, it was posted to well the YouTube video So I read was three years ago, but I guess the story could be older. I'm not seeing on the website Is this a mystery author? Speaker 1 (3:02) I think it's a mystery author. I'm not seeing the date this was posted. Yeah, I don't know when this was posted or who posted it. Whatever, who fucking cares? It's called O'Malley's Family Restaurant. O'Malley's Family Restaurant. We're Speaker 2 (3:13) having to read from our phones, so we're not... I'm reading the Waffle House menu. He's reading the Waffle House menu. I'm going to be reading from my phone. So if it looks like I'm texting and stuff, just know that it's me reading the story. They just look as if she's gay for them. Speaker 1 (3:27) Yeah, you're on your camera Speaker 2 (3:28) the whole time just scrolling Speaker 1 (3:29) through pictures of guys kissing. You, uh, are you a little out of your element right now? Because, like, you wouldn't yell creepcast. Speaker 2 (3:37) I'm horrible at recording in public. And Speaker 1 (3:38) now you're afraid about being accused of being on your phone when we're clearly reading a story. So... Well, Speaker 2 (3:45) I thought, I didn't know if people were going to think, I didn't want to sit there and be like this, and then people were like, oh, you're just on his phone the whole time. Which would be obvious, but I don't know. You ever watch something here like he wasn't even paying attention. He was just on his phone. Speaker 1 (3:55) No. Speaker 2 (3:56) Oh, I see that sometimes. Whatever, dude, I'm human. Speaker 1 (3:59) I think Speaker 2 (4:00) I will say unironically. People are Speaker 1 (4:01) beautiful and my life is filled with love. Speaker 2 (4:05) I'm so thrilled. You can't take this from me. And then also for people wondering, we're not fucking going to order food and be gobbling it up. You Speaker 1 (4:14) know, you said that and I said that too. I'd be like, I'm not going to order till afterwards. Are you going to order? I've been thinking about a waffle. Speaker 2 (4:20) Are you going to eat one waffle? We are at the house of waffles. No, Speaker 1 (4:23) no, Speaker 2 (4:23) no. Speaker 1 (4:24) I'm going to eat like an actual delicacy after we record. But during the recording... I Speaker 2 (4:32) feel like we should at least order and have it on the table. If you go Speaker 1 (4:37) to the bathroom, I'm going to order a waffle. Can I have one normal waffle? Is there seasonal waffles still? The firework one? I think it is. Speaker 1 (4:52) No, but if it's something else I want to know. It's probably still the pop rock. It's just like pop rocks on there, which was good a few times. I'm not crazy about it. Actually, a peanut butter waffle. There you go. Speaker 1 (5:13) Exactly, yeah. I'm so Speaker 2 (5:14) happy right now. Speaker 1 (5:16) You were about to say something a second ago. You were like, listen. No, no, no. No, Speaker 2 (5:19) I think that's totally cool. I think I'm ready to start. No, Speaker 1 (5:22) I mean before Speaker 2 (5:22) that. Speaker 1 (5:23) Yeah, I cut you off because I was excited. I don't remember. Okay. I couldn't tell you. Logo facing out also to be clear because there'll be accusations of this. We are not paid to do this This Speaker 2 (5:33) is a trial run that we're trying to do with them. Yeah, please God. Notice me bridge the gap I've been Speaker 1 (5:39) in their Instagram comments for a year. Are you always learning? They'll post something and I'll come and be like Hi. I'll write in the little asterisk. It's like, Speaker 2 (5:49) get sweaty, Speaker 1 (5:51) notices you, points fingers. Speaker 2 (5:53) I was wondering, could we be partners? I Speaker 1 (5:56) think Kayla posted a picture because this isn't Speaker 2 (5:59) a Speaker 1 (5:59) joke. I sound a little too crazy right now. When my daughter was born, I was wearing a Waffle House t-shirt. I didn't think about it at the time. But Kayla posted a picture from the delivery room and was like, Isaiah met. our daughter in a Waffle House t-shirt and tagged Waffle House. Waffle House was like, congratulations. And I replied and I was like, thanks for noticing me, senpai. Speaker 2 (6:21) I love Waffle House. I like how it's literally just a southern restaurant that serves waffles and eggs. You know what I like about Speaker 1 (6:27) it? Do you want any coffee? You could go. I will take a refill if you don't mind. Also, hi, how are you? Hi, Speaker 2 (6:36) fantastic. How about you? Speaker 1 (6:37) Perfect. Speaker 1 (6:40) Could I actually, I know I said earlier that I wouldn't eat until afterwards. Could I get a peanut butter waffle? Speaker 2 (6:46) Perfect. Speaker 1 (6:48) I'll do a, I'll Speaker 2 (6:50) put it in order too then. I'll do. Are we getting food food right now? Sure. Well, I don't want to like eat eat. I'll do an all-star special. All right. He's going in. All right. I'll do scrambled eggs. I'll do bacon. I'll do hash browns. I'll do cheese on the hash browns. Speaker 2 (7:12) I'll do Speaker 1 (7:12) white toast. And can I do a chocolate chip waffle? Thank you. That was a respectable order besides the scrambled eggs. Speaker 2 (7:22) The best thing Speaker 1 (7:23) to get here and the thing I get every time, you get the cheesesteak hash brown bowl as it comes with the onions, and then you put two eggs over easy on top, and then ketchup. You need to calm the fuck down. I'm Speaker 2 (7:34) so Speaker 1 (7:34) excited. I'm fired up. Thank you. This guy gets it. He understands. Will you be ordering a bowl, too? Speaker 2 (7:46) We have an entourage of people ordering steak bowls. Yes. Do Speaker 1 (7:51) you want what I got? All right. He wants a cheesesteak hash brown bowl with the onions, two eggs over easy on top. Do you like your eggs over easy? I do. Perfect. Excellent. Speaker 1 (8:09) Trust me. It's just Speaker 2 (8:09) like a traditional poke bowl. Speaker 1 (8:12) Look, what I love about Waffle House, and again, not paid, not sponsored, I just asked to do this for myself. We're just here. We walked in, we're like, can we record? And they're like, we Speaker 2 (8:21) don't care. Speaker 1 (8:22) What I love about Waffle House is regardless of where you are, regardless of Speaker 2 (8:27) - Speaker 1 (8:27) This is true crime footage. Speaker 2 (8:30) This is true crime- This is you about to murder me. You murdered his partner Speaker 1 (8:33) later that night. You're not going to ruin this for me. Regardless of where you are, it is the same quality of worker. They're always hospitable. They're always eager. And it is the same quality of food that it always tastes like a good American hash brown bowl. What violence, though, statistically, it involves, huh? Because it's the only restaurant that's open 24 hours everywhere. A Speaker 2 (8:55) lot of things happening at 11 Speaker 1 (8:56) a.m. Speaker 2 (8:57) in the morning, huh? Say that again? A lot of violence happening between Speaker 1 (9:02) the hours of Speaker 2 (9:03) 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The only fights Speaker 1 (9:04) I've ever seen at a Waffle House have been at night. I've never witnessed a daytime fight at a Waffle House. Daytime, it's always the old guys. You know, the nighttime, it's when it gets... It's Waffle House Plus. It's like the New Game Plus mode. Well, do you want to start reading? I was at a Waffle House in North Carolina, and we had just got off a hike, and we had walked over there because it was across the street from the park. Right. And one of my friends didn't wear enough gear and he was shivering. And the waitress, oh, thank you very much. Appreciate you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. Speaker 2 (9:40) Oh, thank you. Speaker 1 (9:42) We went to this Waffle House across the street. One of my friends had gotten cold and he was shivering. And the lady, the waitress, brought him a blanket. Speaker 2 (9:55) We Speaker 1 (9:55) were like, where'd you get the blanket from? And she said when she worked at a Waffle House on the southern border of Texas, there'd be people that come in at night and they were freezing and everywhere to go. So she started bringing blankets to work and handing them out to people as they were walking. through and stuff. That is the kind, that attitude, that love of humanity, you do not find it in any other chain restaurant. What are you doing? Speaker 2 (10:18) I tried making a paper airplane. Out Speaker 1 (10:20) of a napkin. Speaker 2 (10:21) It is not sturdy enough. But I tried. You are in Speaker 1 (10:25) church. Show some respect. I'm sorry. Thank you. Okay. So with that, we're reading O'Malley's Family Restaurant. Also in the comments, let me know what your Waffle House order is. Mine's better. But I'm just curious. Speaker 1 (10:42) I feel like me right now is how you see me all the time. Speaker 2 (10:48) That's actually, that's extremely accurate, Speaker 1 (10:51) actually. Oh, I'm so happy. Yeah. But I don't care. All right. What you're going to get is over easy eggs in the jalapeno bowl. You know what's funny is the level of promo I'm doing right now. For nothing. Yeah, for nothing. Because anyone, because anything else, if this was paid, it feels so fake. But this is just passion. It's just love of the game. Anyway. Are you ready to begin hunter? Yes. Let's begin O'Malley's family restaurant younger siblings tend to do I absolutely worship to my older brother Calvin He always seemed like the coolest person in the world to me. Show me that oh my gosh Speaker 1 (11:44) That's the most disrespec- I've seen people fist fight on these floors. That's the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen someone do here. I Speaker 2 (11:51) just think it's funny. You keep it going whenever you blur or whatever and it's a funny edit. We don't even stop it. It just keeps going. Speaker 1 (11:56) As younger siblings tend to do, I always, I absolutely worshipped my older brother Calvin. He always seemed like the coolest person in the world to me. No matter what he did, it fascinated me beyond belief. Everybody liked him. He was president of his class, a star baseball player, and just had an all-around great personality. Why did you scoff at that line? Speaker 2 (12:16) No one really likes the president of their class, do they? Now, if it was a star baseball player, it's pretty good. You know what's funny? I was Speaker 1 (12:25) class president. Speaker 2 (12:26) That Speaker 1 (12:27) was, yeah. Speaker 1 (12:33) Actually, you know, Speaker 2 (12:34) I've Speaker 1 (12:35) been... Speaker 2 (12:35) You haven't done one thing. Speaker 1 (12:37) Buddy, take care, man. Have a good day, man. Appreciate you. That guy's a hero. We have to leave all this in, by the way. The extra stuff, the talk. This is for an audience. Oh, okay. Speaker 2 (12:56) So they just pass out, yeah. Speaker 1 (12:59) Do you want some of this, Hunter? No. Speaker 1 (13:07) I just say no like that. Speaker 2 (13:10) I just know, man. What the fuck? Am I going to be shamed for not wanting your fucking funeral? I want Speaker 1 (13:16) you to play with me. Also, you talked- I want you to play with me. You talked Speaker 2 (13:19) up- You hyped up that fucking bowl and then you didn't even get the bowl. I'm Speaker 1 (13:22) going Speaker 2 (13:22) to eat Speaker 1 (13:23) it after we're done recording. I can't be reading and be like, this is an occasional treat. We'll go ahead and pace. Yes, thank you. Speaker 2 (13:30) I'm going to order the bowl Speaker 1 (13:31) after we eat. Speaker 2 (13:32) Well, give us at least a breakdown of like the texture, everything else. When you cut into this, what are you looking for? Okay, so what you're looking for, because Speaker 1 (13:39) they're all, the Waffle House waffles always have the really shallow parts, so you can't over-syrup it, really, right? It's always on the top. Well, you can. Come on. No, not really. Well, Speaker 2 (13:46) you Speaker 1 (13:46) can. Speaker 2 (13:47) Yeah, you can. So, with the peanut butter, Speaker 1 (13:50) I mean, the Waffle House waffles are always, like, very, not doughy, but, like, very soft on the inside. So, as long as they're not on there too long, they always taste very soft and pleasant. Right. Oh. Oh. Speaker 1 (14:06) This is my job. I'm at a Waffle House recording a scary story. Ten-year-old me would be so proud. He'd be like, dude, we're awesome. My job Speaker 2 (14:20) is being handcuffed to a man-child who's obsessed with Waffle House. Thank you so much. Speaker 1 (14:27) Thank you. Speaker 2 (14:29) Thank you. Speaker 2 (14:34) That was an incredibly rude read. I'm going to do the exact same thing. I'm going to get my butter. I'm going to smear around here. And really, truly, I think that people are going to say, well, this episode was a bit of a wash because they didn't read the story as fast as they normally do. I'll tell you the real horrors of this is diabetes and the future that I have with it. If you look at the amount of butter here, if you think that I'm making it two or three more years on this earth, You God you are just a few you couldn't have read it more wrong. It's at five years the other day You've said you're taking yourself down. Well, I mean look what what am Speaker 1 (15:10) I doing tomorrow? You're gonna be like well any moment. Yeah Speaker 2 (15:13) tomorrow I'm gonna be like well, it was nice seeing you buddy. Hopefully I'll see you in two weeks. If not, it was nice knowing you Speaker 1 (15:18) I was Speaker 2 (15:24) like doing the pentagram and it goes I don't do that I did, I just did. Just pour the vinegar. Like I said, you can't go over. Look at that. That Speaker 1 (15:31) is clearly over. You are desecrating this place to me right now. Look at this fucking swamp I just poured. Why Speaker 2 (15:36) do I take you anywhere? I Speaker 1 (15:38) should have done this by myself. Are you unbuttoning your shirt? What are you doing right now? Mm-hmm. Speaker 2 (15:47) Putting my niece a waffle here. Mm. Ow. Oh, it's good. Mm. Oh, it is. Thank you. Oh, go ahead, sit down. I would say he Speaker 1 (16:03) isn't Speaker 2 (16:03) like Speaker 1 (16:03) this, but he is like this. That's good. Speaker 2 (16:06) Do you want jelly? Oh, no. No, no. This is fine. You know, I've Speaker 1 (16:10) worked with this man for three years. Yeah, he's like this all the time. Thank Speaker 2 (16:13) you. Speaker 1 (16:14) Someone Speaker 2 (16:15) understands. Oh, my gosh. It's good and good for you. I'll tell you what this means. This whole meal is high protein. Speaker 2 (16:31) Sugar and carbs. Speaker 1 (16:32) You went from scared to yelling here. It's pretty confident I'm buttoning your shirt. I have to just break the mold at some point. Speaker 2 (16:41) Okay. Speaker 1 (16:42) Oh, yeah. Yeah. So this is my order. This is the thing. Always good. No, no, no. It is his. I'm just showing it off for the camera because it's my, this is my go-to order. Speaker 1 (16:54) So, cheesesteak hash brown bowl. You got your hash browns, you got your cheese, your onions, your eggs, and your meat on top. It's delicious. You put ketchup on this, it's Speaker 2 (17:03) a Speaker 1 (17:03) whole other ballgame. Speaker 2 (17:04) Ketchup. Alright, Speaker 1 (17:09) anyway, Calvin, older brother, class president, baseball Speaker 2 (17:12) star, all that. Why don't you tell me the scariest thing that's ever happened to you at a Waffle House? Speaker 1 (17:20) The Speaker 2 (17:20) scariest thing that ever happened. Because I actually have a horror story. Speaker 1 (17:23) I mean, every time I go to one, there's always something strange happening, and I think this qualifies. But, like, last one I was at, there was, like, a marching band outside that one of the waitresses was, like, a marching band director in high school, so she was outside just directing them on, like, their strides or whatever. So it's always something weird. I'm trying to think of a scary experience. There's been times I've been in one by myself, and it's been kind of, like, odd or, like... So I walk by look in just kind of like the strange people walk by but nothing to what's your horror story? My uncle PJ was drinking coffee Speaker 2 (17:57) here Speaker 1 (17:58) He Speaker 2 (18:00) was drinking coffee at a at the Waffle House and he got food as well He had a stroke and was blind the rest of his life. I watched him have a stroke Have you seen anyone have a struggle? We watched Speaker 1 (18:10) your uncle have a stroke in a Waffle House How old were you? Speaker 2 (18:14) 12 Wow, what did you do? Yeah, unironically Speaker 1 (18:27) Your uncle was having a stroke next to you and you kept eating waffles? Speaker 2 (18:30) Whoa. Oh no. Speaker 1 (18:47) Did anyone help him? Oh, tons of people. That's 12! There's so many events that have happened to you that make so much sense. What am I supposed to do as a 12-year-old? Actually, stand aside. I mean... I guess as long as other people are helping him, that's all you really can do. You know? He went stiff and Speaker 2 (19:07) he was basically... Well, he was really fucked up because everyone in my family called him a porky pig for a long time. Because when it happened, he did this. He was like, whatever, because your brain kind of skirts out, whatever. Because he was saying something during coffee, and he started saying something. He's like, this wasn't exactly, but he's just like, yeah, I need to get more oil in my... Like that, and started doing that. And I was like, what the fuck is wrong with you? And then it kind of all sets in. Oh my gosh. But he's blind. Still. Like I said, there's so much to make sense about you. Goddamn, I'll tell you what. A little bit of chocolate chips in the hash browns there. A little salt. A little sweet. Not bad. Never is. Alright, I'm going to go seriously. Let's get down to reading the story. Speaker 1 (19:56) Calvin. Speaker 2 (20:00) Older brother. Speaker 2 (20:02) I'll tell you right now, I'm not going to make it. Even that half cup of coffee, I'm telling you, I'm going to have diarrhea. Should I take the camera in the bathroom when I have that? Oh, yeah. Speaker 1 (20:12) I think I should keep reading while you're doing it so the camera can cut back and forth. All the girls thought he was such a stud, much to my surprise. And although he was older, Calvin wasn't a stereotypical monster. I think that's why he got along so well. For one thing, he would never dream of hurting me in any way. When I told my psychiatrist this, they couldn't believe it. An older brother that never once tortured his younger sister? There was no way one of those existed anywhere. Calvin was different. He never heard a fly. His bedroom door was always open whenever I needed someone to talk to. He'd let me lie on his floor and listen to his Led Zeppelin records with him while I did his homework. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. Speaker 2 (20:58) As the two of us grew up... That doesn't have to be weird. Speaker 1 (21:03) As the two of us grew up in a small town in the middle of Rhode Island, we only became closer. Maybe it was because of our family situation, but we both needed each other greatly. Our father was an alcoholic. He'd always come home drunk and take out all his anger on us. Calvin never let him get to me, though. He would let me sleep with him in his bed most nights, so I wouldn't have to hear our parents fighting through the bedroom walls alone. Her mother was a saint. She was one of the only people I could turn to for help She was the only one besides my brother who understood the pain Sadly, she died when I was 13 The autopsy showed that mom had an overdose on painkillers. They ruled it as accidental, but I was never so sure After she was gone. Our father only got worse It got so bad that the second he graduated, Calvin moved into an apartment on the other side of town and took me with him. Our father barely protested, but he's sure he never wanted kids in the first place. From then on it was just Calvin and I on our own in the big world. That's Speaker 2 (22:03) a bit of a hack to Put a little bit of salt on the hash Speaker 1 (22:05) browns. Mm-hmm. Need a little bit. So just a little bit salty Okay, I can respect that that's a respectable pick You don't have to do it on the cheesesteak bowl because you get the salt off the cheesesteak off the steak because it's seasoned in there with like the salt and pepper and stuff like that, but I do agree standalone Speaker 1 (22:21) He attended the local community college and worked part-time at a grocery store. I'm Speaker 2 (22:27) going to Speaker 1 (22:28) shit Speaker 2 (22:28) my pants in. I'm not a big coffee drinker. Every time, dude. It Speaker 1 (22:33) wasn't the most glamorous thing, but it helped to get the food on the table. I was hard to look after. I was deeply disturbed after such a tough childhood. I wasn't good at making friends or being friendly, but my... The Speaker 2 (22:49) phony. Speaker 1 (22:53) I'm having a hard time here. You Speaker 2 (22:56) know what I should do? I should have done a canned cold brew. I think that would have said a little better. For me, cold brew is always worse. That goes straight. I drink coffee all the time and that goes through me quick. Really? Yeah. Speaker 1 (23:07) But my brother never turned his back on me. We were away from our broken home and we're just happy to have each other. It's at this point in our lives that we made the biggest mistake we ever could. The two of us didn't know it at the time, but to this day. I still regret picking up that phone more than anything. It was the end of summer, around 1976. The winds were brisk as early September was approaching fast. Calvin and I had been on our own then for about two years. I was 15, he was 19. I remembered that I was sitting at the kitchen table, finishing my homework. Calvin was working on fixing frozen TV dinners. The phone was in the living room. I jumped up immediately when it started to ring. I asked him, this is a little girl. Hello? I asked him to the receiver. It was Joey Malone. Joey was my brother's best friend in high school. The two of them were practically joined to the hip until they went their separate ways for college. Joey was in Miami and I could hear the longing for his friend in his voice. After we caught up for a brief moment, he turned serious. Speaker 2 (24:08) Talk to your brother real quick. Speaker 1 (24:09) That's Speaker 2 (24:10) a Joey Malone voice, yeah. Speaker 1 (24:14) I rolled my eyes playfully and handed the receiver to Calvin. I could hear my brother laughing from the living room as he caught up with his old friend. They must have been on the phone for a good hour because I had already taken our TV dinners out of the oven and had finished mine by the time Calvin walked in. Speaker 2 (24:29) Hey, sorry about that, Laurel. He Speaker 1 (24:31) smiled softly, taking a Speaker 2 (24:32) seat across from me. Made him never believe what Joey's been up to. Cocked an eyebrow suspiciously. Is he on America's Most Wanted already? No, but he might as well be. His neighbors are going to Bermuda for Labor Day weekend. And he's throwing a monster party in their house while they're gone. He's invited us to come and crash. Can you believe it? Speaker 1 (24:52) He chuckled, taking a bite of frozen chicken. I should have known right then that we shouldn't go. It's illegal to break into someone's home, but even more illegal to throw a party in it. I should have known that it wasn't a good idea, but I was naive. 15-year-old girl. And all I wanted most in the world was to be a legend like my big brother was. So of course, I agreed.
