What's been going on this weekend? Speaker 2 (2:59) Happy Sunday, Mike. Yeah, Emily came home on Thursday night, took the bus, and so just hung out with her this weekend. It was beautiful weather. I mean, it's been like 70 degrees. The sun is shining. It's been gorgeous out here. So didn't do too much editing here. Just hung out with the girls, and it was a good weekend. That Speaker 4 (3:19) is a good weekend. It's yeah. Falls arriving in the States here lately. It's been nice. It's same, same around here. Mallory came home for the weekend too. She had to go back early this morning because she had to do nine and a half hours today of pumping for her sorority, which is putting the stuff on the float. Like the, I Speaker 2 (3:38) have no idea what that is. I didn't know what it was either, but it's, Speaker 4 (3:41) it's like you take the, I don't know, tissues and put them on the floats. It's like, it's like. Speaker 2 (3:47) It's homecoming next weekend for Mizzou, though? It is. We get Speaker 4 (3:49) the Florida Gators, who are hotter than a firecracker. They scored a lot of points this weekend. Oh, I know. John Pelkey, big fan of the Gators. Crushed his dreams as they roll into Como next week. I mean, we have nothing to lose, so we'll see. But, yeah, it's going to be a fun week out at Mizzou, but we'll see. But it's been great fall weather. I saw fall weather even down in central Florida. I mean, you saw... Seamus was posting. He had a nice cool run. He's been posting some great pictures down there. A lot of your Jason's been talking about it. I mean, well, Speaker 2 (4:21) yeah, like they had like, um, their air conditioning went out or something. Like he messaged me, like they messaged me in the middle of the night and I saw it. And then they're like, but at least it kind of worked out because it was 60 degrees outside this morning. So we could have the windows open. So that's good. Cause like, that's the last thing you want. Like in Florida, like losing your air conditioning. Oh man. Like that's bad. Speaker 4 (4:40) Well, so I mean, You go down all times of the year, right? So I've been down all times of the year, depending on, you know, over the years. I mean, I tend to most of my trips. I think Google Photos kind of gives us this perspective nowadays of when we tend to travel. Like I have a lot of trips in the summer. I also have a lot of those trips from maybe about 10 years ago. We used to do that like epic October time frame. Like it was actually this time of Speaker 2 (5:04) the Speaker 4 (5:04) year. It was like late September's right when Food and Wine Festival used to start. And we'd go that preview weekend. We'd do a big, you know, podcast event. And then we'd, cause that'd be, I think that was when wine and dine used to be the night races. It was. Yeah. Yeah. It was much Speaker 2 (5:17) shorter end of September through October, basically. And that was it. So we go there. Speaker 4 (5:22) Yes. We go there. And then you have like marathon weekend. So you got all kinds of weather. I mean, but. I think this is the time of year if you want to go. I mean, the weather can be, it's less extreme. Like if you go in January, you can get really good weather, but you're kind of rolling, like say like around Marathon Weekend, anytime in January, right? You can get beautiful weather in January in Florida, but you can also get ice cold. You can get nice. But I mean, I think right around now, maybe like from now to like the beginning of November, you're probably going to get some, I mean, it can be hot, but you can get pretty decent weather. Do you agree? Speaker 2 (5:56) Yeah, I think it can still get pretty hot too. But yeah, definitely like better than June through August weather for sure. Because we have a lot of October trips too, like looking back at it. Because when Emily was younger, it's not like, I don't want to take her out of school in September. October, a little later in the year, the teacher has a good idea of what assignments can be made up, things like that. So we spent. there was a stretch almost every year we went in october because like mine and emily's birthdays are in october eight days apart got the halloween stuff so that was always nice i loved going in october yeah um what's funny i'm gonna be there this year for wine and dine and i was just thinking like when you're talking about this like oh yeah that's great like because wine and dine is before halloween now which is so weird like when they do it i was like oh sweet i can see the magic kingdom like decorations and all that but then i was like Actually, I won't because I don't have park tickets because I'm not an annual pass holder anymore. Speaker 4 (6:48) So let me ask you about that because we're going to phone lines after this conversation right here. But this is a very I mean, you're going down for a race weekend sans tickets, which is kind of a challenge, right? Because I've thought about doing this myself, right? Because I go down solo for the race weekend sometimes. And I mean, a lot of times lately. And I've thought about, well, you know, do I need to renew my tickets? Because, you know, if you're running like the dopey challenge. I could totally just make it a resort weekend. Right. But the problem is like the lizards, I want to go in and go to all the events and see people. And that, and it also makes it a little bit challenging. Like if I want to go to the, I know this is really dumb, but like, if I want to go to the studios and have my, you know, sandwich at the commissary, you know, just there's so many traditions that I do that I really could, I don't have to, you know, I could just make new traditions and go around all the resorts and have different, you know, meals and do different things. But. What are you like? How are you planning on doing this? Because this is kind of a are you making it kind of a fun challenge or how are you guys looking at this going down without tickets this time? Speaker 2 (7:49) That's a great question. And the reason we're not doing it because we're we're going to fly down Friday night and then just like. do the expo then 10k on saturday half marathon on sunday and then come home monday so it's like it's kind of a shorter trip on like like a dopey where she had to commit like five days at least when you do dopey so a lot much shorter and i'm just looking at it as like this is gonna be awesome me and liz hanging out at old key west yeah hanging out at the pool going to some of our favorite like restaurants like we can just do whatever we want like after the 10k I could take a nap and not like worry about like what am I doing why am I not in the studios right now like I'm sure there'll be a little part of me right like on Saturday maybe like Saturday night like oh man be sweet to see some fireworks or whatever you know but I think I think it's going to be great and The kicker to this too, though, is like the wine and dine does give you that party ticket. Speaker 4 (8:40) Yes. You Speaker 2 (8:41) do get a theme park ticket for later in the night. Cause I debated like, cause there's a not so scary that night too. Like, Oh, could we do a not so scary? This is cause it's a good chance to just do a hard ticket event and not feel bad. Cause we don't, cause we had the, we don't have the annual pass, but I'm already had the free Epcot one. So that's going to be our plan. We're going to go into Epcot that night and just get Liz a ticket for that. Speaker 4 (9:01) Ah, that's a great idea. Cause you'll get a little taste of the park, get into Epcot, get to do some attractions, get some snack. I like that. That's a great compromise. And you're right. It takes, when you don't have the tickets, it takes pressure off of like having to think about what you're doing. Like I don't have them. So I'm just, we're chilling. We're just going to, we're going to have a relaxing week. And after Sunday, after Speaker 2 (9:19) the race, I can just go back and chill at Oki West. I think I want to get some brunch. I've heard so many things about Raglan road brunch. Speaker 4 (9:26) Yes. Like Jason raves about it. Yeah. Speaker 2 (9:29) Yeah, let's just take the boat over the Raglan Road and relax, maybe take a nap. And then I think you can go into Epcot at 4 o'clock with your party ticket. Go to Epcot at 4 o'clock. Like, that'll be our one night of... theme park fun and we can stay up late because there's no race the next morning our flight i think is like a one or two so no we'll have to rush to the airport like i think i planned this one pretty good mike i think you Speaker 4 (9:48) did too and we'll have to when you come back we gotta talk about that because it'll be definitely different than all of your other trips it'll be fun to kind of get like a post uh you know trip report on that one we gotta send a shout out to our friend mel from australia she's watching right now on the disney adventure i Speaker 2 (10:03) mean she's on the adventure yeah Speaker 4 (10:05) she's tuned in from the other side of the world right now on Disney Cruise Line's newest and largest cruise ship, which is unique. Scott, what are you thinking real quick about what you've seen? Because she's posting pictures and all these, you know, live updates from her cruise there over in Singapore. Speaker 2 (10:23) I really want to sail it. I know it's like a cruise to nowhere. It'd be cool if it had a couple ports because you travel that far. It'd be cool to like stop at some cool destinations. But the ship just looks unbelievable. I mean, now it's... But the escalator, like, I mean, it's just unlike any other Disney ship. Right. But like, I love the, all the Duffy stuff they have. They have some unique characters, some great meals that you can get on there and some cool spaces. I, at first I was like, I don't want to do it. But the more I've thought about it and like seen some videos, I'm like, dang, I think I really do want to get on that ship now. So Speaker 4 (10:57) I've been thinking about it and I'm glad that, you know, I appreciate Mel posting those, like I've been watching her on social media and stuff. And it's been fun to see, you know, her family and all the adventures they're having. And I've seen, you know, some other updates from other people too. And the thing is, the way I kind of look at it is like, because my wife, she always cracks up because you see, especially during football, there's a lot of like Royal Caribbean, those like long weekend on like Icon of the Seas commercials, you know, the mega ships, you know, the gigantic ships that you can go on for the weekend and have everything. It's almost like if, like a Triton class ship, like a Wish or a Treasure or something, and one of those, you know, Icon of the Seas had a baby. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's almost like, like they got together, boom. And they had a baby and they're, you know, that's almost like what the adventure is. Cause it's like a mega ship with Disney touches because it's bigger and it's got, it's got like that, you know, like that mall in the middle, you know, like that it's like the central park kind of feel to it. It's, it's, it's, it's got that almost like a Vegas-y feel, but instead of Vegas-y, it's Disney kind of thing. I don't know. Is that a, do you think that's kind of a fair, you see what I'm saying by that? It's totally fair. It feels like the icon Speaker 2 (12:04) class, right? And Disney like said, all right, let's, let's compromise here. Let's do a collab. Speaker 4 (12:10) I mean, I think everybody would like it though, but it's, it's weird that it's not. I just don't like the shape Speaker 2 (12:16) of it. Kind of like, cause I mean, it looks like, I don't know. It's just. i guess it's fine like they got the funnels they got the color scheme and all that but like some of the some of the areas i've seen just don't look like developed yet like they just didn't know what they wanted to do like some of the pool areas like had like absolutely no shade which is insane to me um but i guess the pool deck on the other ships kind of don't have some shade either in some spots too, you know? So like, I don't know. I just want, let's go and experience my, let's just go to Singapore and let's, I can't, I got Speaker 4 (12:44) a passport now. I'm ready to rock. I think Speaker 2 (12:47) it was the greatest thing ever. Speaker 4 (12:49) Yes. And by the way, now we have Elizabeth Tetlow. She's over on Instagram. She's tuned in from a Walt Disney world bus. And she says the bus drivers handed out stickers and telling jokes. And she wants me to share this one before you what's Mickey mouse's favorite sport. Scott, the bus driver just said this one to their bus right Speaker 2 (13:06) now Speaker 4 (13:06) while Speaker 2 (13:06) she's riding. Basketball? I don't know. Mini golf. Oh, that's a good one. That's a good one. I know. So our Speaker 4 (13:14) listeners are everywhere at the Disney Destinations as they watch the show tonight. Speaker 2 (13:18) I know Elizabeth won a must-see adventure giveaway we did a year ago for trying to get to 1,000 subscribers or something. So that's cool to hear that there she is on a bus. Speaker 2 (13:31) Did she say where she's going? Like, is she coming back from the park? She's going Speaker 4 (13:34) from Epcot to Saratoga Springs. Speaker 2 (13:37) Oh, she's going back home. Okay. Hey, you know, go, go to the grandstand pool for me. Have a nice cocktail. Like that sounds like a great evening. Speaker 4 (13:45) I love our listeners. We just hang out here on Sunday night. What's up? The Speaker 2 (13:47) Turk Club is reopening here too. Speaking of Saratoga Springs, excited for that. Yeah. Speaker 4 (13:51) I mean, it looks like it's going to have better food. I mean, you know. Speaker 4 (13:55) I mean, the chances were it was going to be better, you know? So I Speaker 2 (13:59) just thought the decor changes a little bit. Like the time I went in there, it just, it's a cool vibe, right? It's like the, it's like the golf clubhouse, like yes. Dinner spot, you know, restaurant. And it just felt so old and dated. I'd love to see like some decor updates in there too. So I'm very curious what that's going to be like. Speaker 4 (14:17) Okay. We have one last thing that I promised we'd talk about. earlier last week and i think so who's brought up somebody's brought up Speaker 2 (14:24) jason brought it up i think i'm guessing that's what you're talking about the Speaker 4 (14:28) 5k at wine and dine how there's going to be basically you know joe ficus of course like he's like the big brain of all these operations he calculates things and breaks things down and he think i don't know he's way smarter than i am when it comes to these things he thinks there's going to be three different 5ks based on How the corrals, because everybody that's in the 5k apparently has gotten a corral assignment via email. Like you already know your crowd. I've seen it on social media, right? You're already in. They've already got Speaker 2 (14:58) been assigned it. That's crazy. Yes. Like in Speaker 4 (15:00) the email says you're in corral G you're in corral. Speaker 2 (15:03) Okay. Speaker 4 (15:04) D so, you know, your corral and it tells you like what time your corrals start and like what time you need to be in the crowds. You're just like any other race. Right. But the first race I think starts at like four 30. And the second race, I think, starts at 6 with the last one starting around 7.30. So basically about an hour and a half between. Speaker 4 (15:25) Let me just ask you, cause you'll be down there. You're not doing the five. You're not doing the five. No, Speaker 2 (15:29) no. I didn't register. And now I kind of wish I did just to like know what it's like, but I'm flying down Friday. So I'm not doing it. Speaker 4 (15:35) Let me, first of all, let me ask you though, if you had your choice, which you don't have your choice, would you rather do the five, the four 30, the six or the seven 30? If it was your choice, it's six Speaker 2 (15:44) or seven 30. Like I want to sleep. See, Speaker 4 (15:47) now I'm the opposite. I just want to get it out of the way. I did the four 30, but cause I'm early bird, but. and here's what everybody's kind of saying too on that is that Disney has always had this rule, right? That you can always drop back, but you can't move up, right? You can always like, you know, say you're in crowd a, B, C, you can always go back to D or, you know, whatever you can, but you can't move up. So if you're in D you can, you can do D E F whatever back, but you can't go to C B or a. So what they're, what people are speculating on. is that the people who are in basically that third wave, that third race or, you know, third wave that's going out later is if there's going to be a lot of people that say, even though I'm in a, I don't want to run at four 30. I want to run it. I'm just going to sleep in for another hour and a half and drop back and just run later. And that, that last one will be congested, you know, and it'll be, you know, cause basically a lot of people run the five K for the character
