Nice to have a new caller on the line to talk about how she thought Disneyland, a little bit easier vacation when you have. a young child. So we talked about those, the yin and the yang of Disneyland and Walt Disney World. We also talked savory snacks as we move into fall. So that's kind of fun as well. Glad to have you back in the house. Speaker 5 (2:44) Yeah, happy to be here. We have a lot to catch up on. You got your cruise. I had the podcast episode flagged from this last Friday. Emily was here this weekend, so kind of busy with her, but I can't wait to listen to your trip report. I have some idea. I was following along on the Discord and all that, and then I went to Nashville for work, and boom, here we are again. It feels like it's been a month since I talked to you. It feels like it's been forever. I think Speaker 4 (3:08) you had a good time down in Franklin. I mean, that was like a... Heck of a mini workcation thing, man. You did it. I mean, if that's exactly what I called it, a Speaker 5 (3:16) workcation, that's exactly what I called it because I was supposed to go down from Monday and our budget had like three nights and Liz works for the same company. So she just, we just got her and, you know, a plane ticket down. Cause I already had the room booked, you know, she had to do her own expenses, but not that I cheated the system, but we shared some meals, you know? So like that kind of worked out too, like on the company's dime. But, um, yeah we're like well let's just go down a couple days early you know instead actually i saved the company money by doing that because the flights out on monday were awful Speaker 1 (3:47) i Speaker 5 (3:47) mean just like it was like three times more than flying down on a saturday which did not make any sense to me so i was like well let's just go down on saturday and like we'll hang out for a couple nights and yeah and then we're doing stuff after work every day like it was a lot of fun Speaker 4 (3:59) Yeah, I mean, Pam and I were following along on all your ventures on Facebook, and she's like, I mean, they're going to like speakeasies or going to all these cool looking bars. I mean, Scott's having drinks that look as good as they're better than stuff we had on the treasure, these mixology classes. I mean, it was pretty sweet. Yeah, Speaker 5 (4:13) Franklin is the spot. It's probably my fifth time I've been to Franklin, and that is a very cool, very old city, like one of the oldest cities. And it's a very cool spot. Like, highly recommend it if you've never been. Very cool. We should do a meet up Speaker 4 (4:25) there. You're not, you're pretty close by. Yeah. I mean, I know Nashville cause what I used to have to drive to Huntsville once a week when I worked in a, worked out down in a space camp and tennis Nashville is five hours. Exactly. Then I'd be, I think two hours. It was, I know it was exactly five hours in Nashville. Then you turned and went South on 65. And I think it was like a hundred miles exactly to Huntsville or something. Yeah. Yeah. It's not far at all. Like Speaker 5 (4:49) Liz has a couple of coworkers that are from Huntsville. I love Huntsville. I miss the rocket city. It was so good. By Speaker 4 (4:54) the way, shout out to Donna quack tuned in over on Instagram, Billy beans over there. I know she's probably running and tuned in and smiling Speaker 5 (5:02) and taking selfies. She's probably making some cool Instagram reel. That's what I'm saying. Speaker 4 (5:05) I know at the exact time she's creating content. That's awesome. While she's watching, I guarantee you that, uh, but glad to have everybody tuned in here on a Sunday night. It's so much fun. Uh, shout out to Sheila. She says she's leaving Thursday. On a trip that I was booked with the Magic for Lust, she's heading to Universal, and Kelsey's been awesome to work with. So we love to hear that. Kelsey is awesome. So anyway, tonight I thought we'd talk about whatever you have on your mind. One of the things I thought we might talk about are savory snacks around Walt Disney World because fall does start this week. And thank goodness. I mean, we were talking about this in the pre-show. I mean, here in St. Louis and in Missouri, it has been smoking hot, like relentless in September. I mean, when we were on our cruise, the temperatures, the highs were in the home. Some of the days in the hundreds, like 100, 101 when we were gone. And it's been in the upper 90s, right around 100 this past week. We're at the football game Saturday. Last night feels like forever ago. Last night, the kick, it was 97 degrees in the stadium. It was. I mean, there was no energy in the stadium. We played terrible. It was one of the worst games I've ever been to, and we won. But it was just, I mean, everybody was just miserable. Like, I still feel terrible. 24 hours later, I feel like I got beat up. It was just so, there was no air moving. But we're finally getting into fall. I think it's Tuesday is when the Equinox happens. And, I mean, I know it's different in Florida, but hopefully it'll cool off a little bit, and that makes the savory snacks a little bit more fun. So when I mentioned savory snacks at Walt Disney World, because a lot of times we always talk, when we talk about snacks, usually it's sweets. Where do you go for savory snacks? When I mentioned that right off the bat, what do you think of? Speaker 5 (6:48) Man, it was funny. I thought about the spring rolls, right? The spring roll cart was one that jumped out to me. I mean, it's funny. I went a long time without buying into that hype. You know, like people were always talking about it. You always saw long lines at that cart race. You get to Adventureland. I was like. why why why do people do this and then like we finally like did it once and i'm like man these are really good they are good and we don't do it every trip but we actually just did this last summer because like we know our annual pass is coming up we need a little snack like oh we got to get a couple of these and like so you've had them right mike yeah Speaker 4 (7:20) you know Speaker 5 (7:21) what Speaker 4 (7:21) the funny thing is with those i had not had them until i think it was either this year or last year like i mean you Speaker 5 (7:26) waited a long time like i had not had yeah Speaker 4 (7:28) exactly i resisted the hype for at least a decade yeah yeah Speaker 5 (7:31) But like, and when we got them this last time, I couldn't remember if I liked the pepperoni ones or not. So we got both cheeseburger and pepperoni. The cheeseburger ones went hands down for me. I mean, I'm not knocking the pepperoni ones, but I mean, I hate to like select something that is like super hyped up that people love. I try to be like under the radar and come up with unique things. So it's just kind of how I am. And I don't tend to like popular things so much, but I love those. I think those are so good. Speaker 4 (7:58) Yeah, I'm with you. Those are one of the things that I discovered. It is kind of funny when you discover things late in the game because you are, you feel like you're bandwagoning things, but I agree. I did like those. I did like those. It's like when Speaker 5 (8:11) the Lions were really good a couple years ago, it's like I just joined the Lions. But no. Speaker 4 (8:16) I mean, well, you're in the town. You're in the town. Yeah, Speaker 5 (8:19) I know. I'm just trying to give that comparison. All those bandwagon Lion fans we've gotten recently. you know, yeah, nevermind. Speaker 4 (8:26) Well, and Amanda says, and this is another thing, see, here's the deal. I mean, and I think you and I kind of have the same problem, but you know, a few of us, like what's the, the line between like a snack and like maybe a quick service meal because it depends on how hungry we are because cheeseburger pods, like a lot of times Pam and I will go there. It's a satouli canteen over at animal kingdom. I was thinking about this. Is this a snack? Because what we do with those, cause I do love those things. We'll get an order, but we'll split them. You know what I'm saying? So like, it's not really a meal, but like, we'll swing through there, get a, get, don't you get like two? I think you get two. It's like, we'll eat both eat one, but we'll get something else. And like, it becomes a snack. And I think we do that with a lot of things. Like, I think too, because one of my favorite things to get is that, um, it's like that. It's a thing at a Pinocchio's village house. It's the, Oh, the flatbreads flatbreads. Yeah. And they're. Or is it the chicken parm sandwich? It's the chicken parm sandwich, but it's not very big and we'll split that. And so like, that's kind of, it's kind of a modified snacking way to go around. Like we don't, we will split. Like, I think you mentioned that with, you just mentioned that how you said. shared meals down in Franklin with Elizabeth. Like we'll do that so that we can kind of, you know, not fill up, but also get this little taste of things around. But that's one of the things. So Speaker 1 (9:43) you can Speaker 4 (9:43) spread it out. So you have like a dessert Speaker 5 (9:44) later. Speaker 4 (9:45) Yeah, exactly. Another one I thought Speaker 5 (9:46) of too, that I really like that. I don't think it's a whole lot of love because there's, it's surrounded by food. And there's so many other great options. But I like the poutine at Disney Springs. I've Speaker 4 (9:57) never had it. I think that is Speaker 5 (9:58) so good. But, like, you're going to go to, like, Boathouse or Homecoming or whatever, and you're going to be so full that you're not going to want poutine, you know? Or it's, like, really hot. You don't want to, like, grab it while you're walking around or whatever, like, eating it with a fork. I love the poutine little cart there in Disney Springs. See, Speaker 4 (10:14) I've walked past that cart so many times and I've always said, I've never had poutine in my life. I've never tried it. Now there's that poutine stand in Epcot, right? Yeah. I was there opening day. Speaker 5 (10:22) Yeah. That was pretty good too. Is it pretty Speaker 4 (10:24) good? And I mean, what's there not to like about poutine? I mean, that seems like that's the perfect savory snack. I mean, it's like, what is like different kinds of gravy on top of fries? I mean, basically kind of, I mean, Speaker 5 (10:34) I had a poutine at Disney Springs that was like Italian. It was like a marinara sauce and like Parmesan cheese. Let's go. But Speaker 4 (10:41) my issue was, and I have this issue all the time and I've said this on the show before is like, I don't know if like, it's like a Midwestern mindset or like, maybe it's like an older person's mindset because I I'm just, even though, I mean, I am getting older, but. Even when I was younger, I grew up like with my grandparents, right? So I think I kind of aged older than I was that I'm like a three squares a day kind of person and not a whole lot of snacking. So like I'm a breakfast, lunch, dinner guy. And so it's hard for me to go eat like poutine, say like 2.30 or. say like, you know, seven 30, because I've already had my square meals. You know, if I want to have a snack later, you know, like poutine, it just never fit into the schedule because like poutine is like a heavy snack. You know what I'm saying? Like if I eat poutine at two 30, it's going to totally hose me over for like, if I want to go to homecoming or if I want to go to splitsville, get a pizza, like I'm, I'm not, you know what I'm saying? But that's not a bad thing. You're on vacation. Just don't, you don't have to be on a three squares plan when you're at Walt Disney world. Maybe, maybe that's another Speaker 5 (11:41) discussion. Speaker 4 (11:42) I mean, maybe do you have to be flexible on vacation and not be like, but then when you do the dining plan, Speaker 5 (11:46) you get like, you get the snacks though. Like every day along with, uh, yeah, it's tough. That's a whole Speaker 4 (11:52) nother thing. Like we used to, I used to be super, cause I haven't done the dining plan in a little bit, but like back in the day when you, you know, with our snacks, I used to be so like, I don't know, like rigid, you know, I'd be so careful with make sure you use that snack on something where you're going to get a value. Like don't buy a bottle of water with that snack. You know, don't buy this. Like, Oh, that's a bad value. So I pay. out of pocket for this. I'd pay out of pocket for that when it was a snack credit. And then we get, you know, two days before we're checking out and we'd still have, you know, 12 snack credits. I'm like, Oh my God. That's Speaker 5 (12:21) souvenirs. Those first couple of trips, we would go to like Goofy's candy co or whatever, and just come back with all of these like souvenirs for like parents and coworkers. Yeah. Speaker 4 (12:30) Cause we drove. So we'd end up bringing back like boxes of vitamins, donuts from the gift shop and all kinds of stuff. Yeah. It was, it was crazy, but. Yeah, Speaker 5 (12:37) so we got a lot of folks tuned in. So let Speaker 4 (12:39) me get the phone lines. Hopefully they will be open here. Speaker 4 (12:45) looks like they are so if you want to call him four seven five eight four seven one seven three is the phone number you want to jump in but yeah the cruise we haven't got a chance to talk about that it was awesome we had a good time uh seven nights out there so Speaker 5 (12:58) good seven nights i mean we Speaker 4 (13:00) didn't get to see your person though uh soca or oscar yeah oscar i was looking all over for i didn't yeah maybe she's like on another ship now you Speaker 5 (13:08) know the funny thing Speaker 4 (13:09) yeah go ahead well so the funny thing it was the last day of a bunch of people's con a lot of it was the last sailing of a bunch of people's uh contract there was gonna be a lot of folks going uh to it to a new uh like this was the at least in entertainment for sure so i know a lot of people were on their last sailing so i don't know if it was true of like bar staff or interesting that so we got a call coming in so let's grab this one Speaker 5 (13:33) hey who's there Speaker 4 (13:36) Not one of those nights. Mike not working. One of these nights. Speaker 5 (13:46) I was worried that you might get a copyright because I sounded so much like Don Henley there at the Eagles when I said that. Totally did. Speaker 4 (13:53) All right. Sorry to call you there. We hadn't had one of these in our lives, so I knew this was going to happen. Speaker 5 (14:01) Speaking of copyright, I'm dealing with a copyright issue on our channel, which is really annoying. Speaker 4 (14:07) what's that i mean does it i mean let me try to reset something real quick Speaker 5 (14:13) no someone another like record company music company is thinking i use their song when i didn't i use like my approved song that i pay for on one of these videos and like they're saying that it's theirs it's like it's complicated it's like so stressful though like i just i'm just following the rules i did what i'm supposed to do Speaker 5 (14:34) So I'm trying to get YouTube involved in it now. Oh Speaker 4 (14:38) my gosh. Do you actually get somebody from YouTube when you do that though? Speaker 5 (14:42) Yeah. I mean, I, I, I've chatted probably like with a fake person about it yesterday that was going to look into the issue for me. But yeah, Speaker 4 (14:51) I Speaker 5 (14:51) mean, I don't need to talk about it here. I'm just filling dead air while you try to figure out the phone. I'm trying Speaker 4 (14:55) to find the setting here, which I have right here. Speaker 5 (15:02) I'm trying to think savory snacks. I love that poutine, those egg rolls. I think I saw, what does Sean say? Nachos. Like, so the tachos. I don't I don't really care for tots that much. So I love Speaker 4 (15:19) tots. I am a top person. Speaker 5 (15:22) There you Speaker 4 (15:22) go. Speaker 5 (15:23) I mean, but when I have them, like, I don't mind. And that's just kind of funny, like or like to call them like the barrel rolls. Like, I feel like depending on where you go, they have like a different name at Walt Disney World. And, you know, sometimes you get a breakfast at the Mara and the potatoes will be the tots or the barrel rolls or whatever. And like and they're fine. Then I realized, like, oh, I don't mind these as much as I think I do, but it will never, ever be my top choice. Speaker 4 (15:44) Alright, call you there? Speaker 5 (15:49) Oh, no. Not again. Speaker 4 (15:54) trisha's sitting on the people mover she's tuned in on youtube hands here how Speaker 5 (15:59) rainy is it i wonder i know because i know like beth was there and she sent us like a pouring down photo earlier i was like oh that looks so bad all Speaker 4 (16:08) right 763 area code hang tight i'm going to do a full reset on the phones i just did a half reset so we never met Speaker 5 (16:14) a potato i didn't like yeah i mean i hear you yeah like it's just i love all sorts i mean you could do like the the bubble gum shrimp thing you know in forest gum and they say like i like my tots i like that baked potato i like the sweet potato you can go on forever yeah yeah Speaker 4 (16:30) that's a good that's good uh and Speaker 5 (16:32) i kind of like i kind of do like them all but i i gotta rank them too and tots kind of go near the bottom see Speaker 4 (16:37) that's if there's a rush if i go to a restaurant and they have tots it's always a tot order i am okay Speaker 5 (16:42) okay that Speaker 4 (16:43) is Speaker 5 (16:43) like Speaker 4 (16:44) we go
