And of course, we're going to kick it off with you right now with some fun Disney talk. My pals, Ricky, Pam, standing by. And we are going to get right after it because we're going to talk about those D23 announcements, but we're not going to rehash them. You've probably heard about them 10 or 15 times on every blog, every vlog, every corner of the Disney internet. But what we're going to do is kind of talk about how those are going to affect our future trips, both in the near term and, you know, further out. And, you know, some of these might have negative impacts on our trips short term, how we can, you know, avoid pitfalls. Maybe, you know, how can we just avoid, you know, things that might impact us in a negative way and turn those into positives and look about how these things are going to be great in the longterm. So joining me to have this conversation, my pal Ricky from a Disney world after all.com and the mouse for less Ricky, uh, any wiggling this weekend, what's going on. Speaker 4 (2:53) No wiggling this weekend. But our good friend Florence is coming to town to see me. She is. She is. I mean, she should Speaker 2 (3:00) be a part time resident of Georgia. She's like you're she's like your nanny. Like she's always out there. She Speaker 4 (3:05) should be. Yes, yes, yes. So I'm excited to see her. And for those who do want a full recap of everything, if you're not listening to them or whatever, I do have a full recap on It's a Disney World After All on YouTube. So you can go check that out there. So that's my little plug for that. Speaker 2 (3:23) Nice. I feel like I've seen like, I don't know, like I am I'm ready for like, I'm just like D23 because we're so close to it. You know what I'm saying? Right. Speaker 4 (3:34) Yes. Speaker 2 (3:35) Like, I'm just. I'm figmented out. I'm DreamFindered out. I'm Spaceship Earth out. I have to admit. I'm pissed and peaked out. I need a break for right now. Speaker 4 (3:46) I ugly cried when Neil Patrick Harris came out dressed as DreamFinder. You can ask Brian. I was just sitting there in because we were watching, you know, the show in my in our bedroom. I was watching it in bed, which is a great place to watch it, by the way. And yeah, I was sitting there just completely ugly crying. And he was just looking at me like, are you all right? Speaker 4 (4:12) But yeah, I'm very, let's put it this way. I'm very happy that something will eventually be happening with Figment and Dream Finder. So that part, that part makes me, that marks my 1983 heart very happy. So, yeah. Speaker 2 (4:27) And we also have Pam Forrester. She's coder of the Magic for Less Travel. And Pam, here's the funny thing, because Scott and I mentioned this because Ricky posted that on her, on her Facebook page. And I said. This was my comment on the Sunday night show because I just read it right before the show started. I said, Ricky and I, myself, were both ugly crying on Saturday night. Now, I was ugly crying because I dropped my daughter off at college and was sad because she is no longer living with us after 18 years. Ricky is ugly crying because a dude from How I Met Your Mother has on a terrible beard. in a hideous costume with a fake puppet in his hand like what is wrong with this world like who's ugly crying for the right reason wait hang on pam but yes let's get pam here do i have a point do Speaker 3 (5:18) i have a Speaker 2 (5:19) point here i know that dream finder and figment are cool but i Speaker 3 (5:22) was like Speaker 2 (5:22) in the moment i'm ugly crying for the right reason excuse Speaker 4 (5:26) me i've been crying for the right reasons too Speaker 3 (5:29) i'm so d23 now i'm gonna tell i'm gonna be honest like uh to have to hear the announcement than to hear every Speaker 3 (5:42) experts, hauntificate on every detail of everything and why they think it may have happened and why it actually happened and whatever. It's like a fan event. Like they're here to entertain. Right. I Speaker 2 (5:58) called it, it's a pepper alley is what it Speaker 3 (6:00) is. It truly is. And they're honest about it going in. D23 is a club for Disney fans. So they're not going to be reporting on the whys behind things. This is just to get you excited about stuff, which is literally the honest to God. Here it is. If you're registering for it, this is what it is thing. So anyways, you know, I think that it's very interesting that we have a company that is so popular sharing the insights that they do. with the fans who are so excited about it so because not many companies Speaker 4 (6:36) would do this oh no of Speaker 3 (6:38) course they wouldn't and for good reason because everything that disney does gets taken out of the box yes analyzed people are like i know why they're doing this and i'm going to share it with you it's like right dude you don't have any idea why they're doing people Speaker 2 (6:54) don't understand this i mean and I'm being firmly tongue-in-cheek here, people. Because here's Speaker 3 (6:59) the Speaker 2 (6:59) thing. You go to Apple Podcasts, right? And there are 300 Disney podcasts. And I'm not kidding. There are close to that. There's got to be more than that. Exactly. You don't go and see 300 Nike tennis shoe podcasts. No. 300 Baskin Robbins podcasts, you know, like, you know, Chipotle podcast. Speaker 3 (7:20) Microsoft one. Speaker 2 (7:21) No, like Disney is such a unique company that like, you know, they, Speaker 3 (7:25) they doubt something and it gets dissected. So Speaker 2 (7:27) there's so many crazy beat and we're one of them. You know what I'm saying? Like, I mean, we're not, I'm not, we're part of this. We're right now doing what we're saying. You know, we're part of the problem or something, but we're passionate Disney fans, but it is such a, it's such a strange thing because like, I mean, people that are not in this i get it like they go to apple podcast like there are 300 disney parks fans podcasts like what's up there are Speaker 3 (7:53) and i think that's why we get fatigue over things like this because truly i at heart am a disney fan and most of what people like to debate about is not something that even enters my my you know this area when i'm planning a trip to disney Like, I don't think about this stuff. I really don't. There were a few announcements that you're right. And I'm glad we're doing this take on it. Not that our take's any better or worse than anyone else. That wasn't really my point in like what I said earlier. It's just that I think for Disney fans who travel there often, as we're watching it, I think that's my first take on it. Like, oh, that'll be interesting. Or I'm really looking forward to seeing that. Or I can't wait for this. that that's what i how i approach it not like this is you know i'm not gonna get into the whole minutia of it all because I'm tired of hearing of it too. So I don't want to hear myself even say, Speaker 2 (8:50) I'm sorry. And then I just give Ricky a hard time because you know, like I was like, I was just so sad over leaving my right. Uh, Riley, I didn't leave the dog. I didn't leave gold. I can't even talk at this point. I'm still, Speaker 3 (9:02) she's right outside the Speaker 2 (9:04) door. You Speaker 3 (9:04) took the dog from another child. I don't even know. Speaker 2 (9:07) I don't even, at this point I'm still messed up. It's only been like 72 hours at this point of recording. But the thing is like you posted that I'm like, Dude, I was so like, because you posted that and I'm thinking that was where I was and I'm still kind of shook, you know, still telling me 72 hours. But you posted that and I'm thinking, dang it. Like Ricky's crying over a stupid guy in a costume and I'm for real, dude, I'm wrecked. I'm wrecked to the core. Like I'm tore up like my daughter's at Mizzou and I'm still wrecked and she's crying over Barney. Like Barney. Speaker 4 (9:39) First of all, first of all. We love Neil Patrick Harris in this house. Don't even. He is the best. And if I ever, look, Neil, if you are listening to this by some small chance, and I'm sure you're not, but if you are, if you ever want to, I know we thought, but if you ever want to have a conversation and really nerd out, I'm your girl. I'm telling you, we can talk, we can nerd out. We can really have a lot of fun. I'm here for you. So Neil is like, I love Neil. So the fact that he loves Dream Finder just as much as I do, and you have to understand. I grew up with Dream Finder. Like, I have a very personal connection to that character. You can see it from the awful photos that I shared because, good lord, what is up with my hair? But, like, you know, I was, like, three. So, you know, who knows? But, you know, like, there are deep connections to Dream Finder for me. You know, so, like, I am very excited about the fact that he is coming back. It is one of my earliest memories of Disney is seeing Dream Finder and Figment. So like, that's why, and it was one of those, because for those who don't remember or know, like I used to be scared of Disney, but Dream Finder and Figment were one of the things that actually like made me happy with Disney and really like I connected with. So like, that's why I have this love and affinity for Dream Finder and Figment. But I was going to say, so I've been watching that, you know, loop on loop basically of you know neil patrick harris coming out as dream finder uh and i noticed that the figment moved and i don't know if this is like a robotic figment uh i've never seen this like character before as like a thing but if they sold this i would buy it so quickly um so disney i know you're listening to this uh if you want to sell that figment that Neil Patrick Harris was carrying after, you know, during that, that segment, please, please do. I will buy it. I will line up first. Suckers. Please sell that. Speaker 2 (11:37) I haven't seen it, but is it, they can make it like one of those banshees, I guess, or something. Speaker 4 (11:41) No, it was like, it was, it kind of reminded me of, I don't know. It was actually moving. And it was like, yeah, no, it was, it was, it was kind of puppet like, but it wasn't a puppet. Talk to Joe Fickus. Speaker 2 (11:54) It's probably Joe Fickus's. Speaker 4 (11:57) It was more electronic like, but it wasn't, it was mechanical. Let's just put it that way. I would buy it like a hands down. If Disney wants to sell that, I will buy it. So Speaker 2 (12:07) I'm just saying, whatever Speaker 4 (12:09) I'm buying that sell at Disney. Speaker 2 (12:11) Joe Fickus looked more like dream finder and figment than, than no Patrick Harris, but we got to get into the announcements. And I want to talk about, I'm just going to give some, cause we're going to, this is going to be super long show. Cause we're, you know, we've been kind of going long and we're trying to keep it under. reps you know but first one i want to talk about is everest because we had debate on this and scott brought up a point now he's kind of winning me over to this they're gonna fix the yeti no more disco yeti they're gonna make it bring it back to its former glory and i got to see it back in the day when it was you know full mode and it was scary i mean that thing came at you like it was amazing i thought it was gonna eat page because page was a little girl at that point and i was like gonna sacrifice her like a little like a little you know you're gonna Speaker 4 (12:50) sacrifice your child cool i Speaker 2 (12:52) mean you gotta do what you gotta do like you don't have to be the fastest runner you just gotta run out you know be faster than your friend if a bear's chasing you kind of thing um same with it now Speaker 2 (13:03) If they're going
