Speaker 1 (0:15) We're all about the archers. I'm Philippa. I'm Quentin. And we're talking about events in Ambridge this week so far, from Sunday the 13th of September to tonight, Tuesday the 15th of September. Are we all wondering what is Carol's next step? Speaker 2 (0:29) I'm riveted. I really am, Philippa. It's a question that hasn't been asked at all for the past six months. Bored, bored, bored. Speaker 1 (0:39) It's very interesting. There are some key storylines at the moment that I have, obviously, my views on. I'm sure you have your views. We'll talk about them. But from the Facebook group, everybody has their own, you know, very different takes on this situation. Personally, Carol is driving me mad and I'm on Team Anna. But in the Facebook group, there are people going through it who very much take Carol's side, not Anna. So I think the scriptwriter is very clever how they are spinning us along. I Speaker 2 (1:07) saw one comment in our Facebook group, I think, which pretty much summed it up, saying, Carol makes me Miss Bert. Speaker 1 (1:14) I really like Bert now, once he was gossiping in the shop. I think Speaker 2 (1:18) there's a relentless bickering between Anna and Carol. I mean, I know what they're trying to say, the difficulties of looking after an elderly relative who's Speaker 1 (1:27) very independent-minded, blah, blah. But it Speaker 2 (1:30) makes for a hard lesson after a while. I mean, Carol had a dig at Tony Schneider's saying, Is there an echo in here or something, didn't she? Called him a parrot. Parrot, that's it, parrot. And you could say the same for this long-running storyline as well. She's determined to go back home, even if she can't walk. So it's going to be even worse, really, isn't it? Because she can't afford the laurels. She's resigned to being in nappies 24 hours a day and that she can't walk. But as long as she can be in her home, that's all she's bothered about. Speaker 1 (2:01) I mean, she could quite possibly afford to be in... the laurels. I'm sure Anna would help with that, possibly. We'd have to see. And there seemed different levels in the laurels. All budgets seemed to be provided for with the different characters that had been in there. But she didn't, it wasn't that she had a problem walking, you know, she fell. She went into the graveyard at night to find a baby bat. I think we'd have all tripped over. So, yeah, she really annoyed me. Speaker 2 (2:33) How do you find a black bat at night? Speaker 2 (2:38) Interestingly, I noticed when they were talking about the cost of the laurels, Anna didn't chip in and say, well, I could pay for it, Mum. So maybe she hasn't got as much money as we think. Speaker 1 (2:47) Well, she said, oh, we could do some respite care. I think they'd find a way. Carol hasn't always refused to go into the laurels, even when they took her previously. She can get out Speaker 2 (2:59) of Speaker 1 (2:59) the car. Yeah, exactly. Speaker 2 (3:02) And now she's written off the rehab, hasn't she? She said that was not going to happen. Speaker 1 (3:05) Yeah, I don't think they've said you're not doing rehab. I think that's hurt. I do understand wanting to get out of hospital. I think when you're on the ward and it's noise and interruptions and you're not sleeping, I completely get that. Speaker 2 (3:18) Yes. Yes, I think we just need a decision on that, please. Yeah. I mean, she's in her 90s, isn't she? The mortal coil might be beckoning. You never know. Well, Speaker 1 (3:28) I like the fact that she's not taking life lying down, although she's lying down in the hospital Speaker 2 (3:32) bed at the moment. And in a graveyard, yes. Speaker 1 (3:34) Yes. But I felt sorry for Anna. You know, Anna's going to see her mother again. Then she's got Tony complaining about how they're too busy mending things. Yes. Poor Anna. Anna actually is working as well. Speaker 2 (3:48) I mean, you can see why Anna's so exasperated. But she rubs people up the wrong way as well. Speaker 2 (3:55) There is Carol fatigue, I'm afraid, Speaker 1 (3:58) Philippa, Speaker 2 (4:00) and it needs to move on. Speaker 1 (4:01) People are finding Anna very unfeeling, whereas I, personally, I don't see that. And that's interesting, again, how we're all different. But I just... Speaker 2 (4:10) Well, she can be in your face, can't she? I mean, all of a sudden, she's in your face for Alan when he tries to help out Carol's direct debits. She's right in his face. And then she's... In his face, when she finds out that her mum's
