Speaker 2 (0:00) Is there anything more important than sleep? You don't really appreciate it when you're sleeping well, but string two bad nights and you're contemplating some serious life choices. Make sure you're taking care of yourself so you can take care of everything else, and upgrade that darn mattress you've had since college. I sleep on my back and sides, and I tend to run hot at night, so my nights have been feeling completely different with my Helix Midnight Elite mattress. It's crazy what a difference it's made. Free shipping right to your door, a 120-night sleep trial, and the Happy with Helix guarantee. Seamless returns and exchanges if it's not exactly right. The most awarded mattress brand, period. The weather is a-changing, the air feels a-different, and it's the perfect time to peruse Quince for just a few cozy items Speaker 1 (1:12) that usher in the new season. You know the drill here. Quince does everyday essentials, using premium materials like cashmere, organic cotton, silks, at the kind of prices we aunties love. But they also keep adding stuff. You know, they got jewelry. Pretty much everything in my cutlery drawer is from Quince and even chic furniture. They work directly with ethical factories, cut out the problematic middleman, and we purveyors of great taste get great craftsmanship without the markup. So let's, you want to go into your Quince order? Speaker 2 (1:47) Would you like me to fire up the app? No, Sue. Speaker 1 (1:51) What do you got? What's the latest? Speaker 2 (1:53) You're not going to believe this, but I have Speaker 1 (1:55) purchased another rug from Quince. So what is that? What's the count on that? Speaker 2 (2:00) Let's see here. One, two, three, and four. Four rugs from Quince. So Quince does great rugs. I'm not kidding. I didn't touch one before I added to cart. That's not what we do at Quince, right? And yet they're perfect. They're such high quality. Sue, you got some clothes. Speaker 1 (2:20) Now, the last Quinn's order that I got was from my mom. I've decided we're in a new era. I've thrown out everything she owns. And from now on, she will be only wearing sets. I want to come over when I take care of my mom and be like, here's your green set, your blue set, your Heather Gray set. So I got four sets for her. The best super soft fleece joggers and then the matching super soft fleece crew. and the super soft fleece mock neck. They hold up well in the wash, easy peasy, and you're done. For the fall pieces you will reach for most at Quince, download the Quince app for app-exclusive offers or go to quince.com slash addtocart. Get free shipping on your order and 365-day returns. Now available in Canada and the UK too. That's q-u-i-n-c-e dot com slash addtocart. Speaker 2 (3:29) Welcome to another episode of Add to Cart. I'm your auntie, Speaker 1 (3:32) Cuckoo V. Lysak. And I'm your other auntie, Sujin Pak. I just have to say, my cart today, I added it yesterday, last minute. I'm coming in hot. Speaker 2 (3:43) Cuckoo. Speaker 1 (3:44) It's a hot one. It's a hot one. It's a spicy one. It's one filled with anger and rage, but also a reconciliation, you know, of knowing and forgiveness. Because we all do it. Self-compassion? Self-compassion. I have had the start of the year, let me not remind everyone of Spider. Pause there. Speaker 2 (4:08) And of course, we're not talking about Spider-Man, the most recent one. I wish. Speaker 1 (4:15) No, Speaker 2 (4:16) it's not that. Speaker 1 (4:17) No. I love that movie, by the way. And for those that have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm going to leave you in that realm of... of joy and- Innocence. Innocence. And for those that know what I'm talking about, you know what I'm talking about. So I started the year, it was rough. I've had the best summer. And so when I started the year, I just was, I was in such a dark place, not even, I wasn't adding anything to cart. I had lost my appetite like one does when you've got a virus. You know, I just was like, what's the point? Parasite. Yeah, it was a parasite. And then I had a colonic, which is... was summer. And I just went wild. Speaker 2 (5:07) I thought you meant literally. Speaker 1 (5:09) Oh, yeah. No, I would never do that. That's disgusting and unnatural. But I bought things. It was my birthday. I went to New York. You know what I mean? When you're on a diet and then you decide to go to the Cheesecake Factory. Speaker 2 (5:24) Yeah. Speaker 1 (5:24) And you just order one of everything on the menu and everything is giant. And then you feel so sick. And I'm at the sick. But I've come to you with a cart, and I just want to jump right into it. All Speaker 2 (5:36) right, but before we do, before we do, I need an update from you. What? Because you're talking about the beginning of the year, okay? Which got me thinking. Yeah. In Sue updates, in the realm of Sue, where are we on your fitness Speaker 1 (5:52) journey? Speaker 2 (5:54) Now, we was established. I knew Speaker 1 (5:57) this was coming at some point. I didn't know it was today. That you needed to lift weights. We were regaled by Speaker 2 (6:05) the harrowing personal training sessions that your body and mind rejected. And so things I want to know, of course, is the status. Did you continue on? Did she continue on with you? An overview. Take a wild guess. Speaker 1 (6:23) Did I continue on? Go ahead, Ku. Speaker 2 (6:27) It's an easy breezy no. Feels like it was an easy breezy no. So how did that breakup go? Speaker 1 (6:38) I mean, it went as any breakup would go when the other person never really wanted to be there, honestly, anyway. Speaker 1 (6:49) Let's just say there weren't a lot of follow-ups when I said I had to quote unquote pause, take a break. Speaker 2 (6:59) You had, of course, completed all of the sessions that you paid for. And you would Speaker 1 (7:02) think that this person would be like, okay, and I'm going to put it on my calendar. Maybe in three weeks, I'll give my client, my loyal client a tap on the shoulder. Nope. Speaker 1 (7:14) Deadline. Speaker 2 (7:14) Or even, you know what, times are tough and like, hey, I need money. And as you know, but she was like, I don't need money that much. I don't need the money that much. I'll just figure out another thing to do. I have to say, like, Speaker 1 (7:29) I thought it, you know, it was like a big deal. And I was like, oh, God, this person, you know, is going to, this is their livelihood. Like, I feel so bad. And I tried to give notice and, but I just was not going to do it. And I just was like, this is not, you know, whatever, whatever dumbass excuse I made. And I was met with a sure. I'm sorry. Sure. Which is a cross between a sure and a yep. Speaker 2 (8:00) Yeah. Yeah. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Yeah. It was like, oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. All right. But then you found another trainer. Speaker 1 (8:09) It's not the trainer. Speaker 1 (8:13) And I really resent the fact that you have to make me say that. It feels very redundant. It feels Speaker 2 (8:20) extremely repetitive. Speaker 1 (8:22) And obvious, obviously. Speaker 2 (8:26) But you need to lift weights. Do I? Yes, you do. You are a 50. Oh, my God. The face she's making right now. If this was a video podcast, you guys. Oh, my God. Speaker 1 (8:38) This is akin to the 90-year-old woman who's smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. And they won't stop. And she's like, I am 90. I've been doing this for 50 years. And I will continue to do this for 50 more. Speaker 2 (8:56) And that's what you say to your doctor? Or are you just kind of just going to put that on pause until the next? Yeah, Speaker 1 (9:03) I mean, Speaker 2 (9:03) with Speaker 1 (9:04) the doctor, I'm a bit more vague. I'm a bit like, yeah, you know, it just was. That's an Speaker 2 (9:11) idea. That's definitely an idea. Because Speaker 1 (9:14) I just had my follow-up. since I quit. So she just found out yesterday. And I said, oh, there's a yoga studio near me that they've just added a lightweight yoga strength building class for seniors. But everyone is welcome. And I was like, maybe that could be just kind of a slower roll. And, you know, the medical professional being smart and experienced was like, sure. Great. Okay, fine. Do that. And I'm just going to kick that ball down the road until I have to see her again in February. And by then, I'll have either figured it out or come up with another excuse. To be clear. Yeah. That class does not exist? Oh, no. It exists. It exists. I saw it. I saw it on the schedule. And follow up? You're not going to be signing up for it? No, I am. I am. But what I learned in the last go is that I am not one that gustos. Speaker 1 (10:24) It never works out. And I have to say my first remove from CART will speak to this. You know me. I can, when I get determined or excited, can have a heavy hand in it. I signed up for all of this weight thing at a gym. I've never done that. I had explosive diarrhea the first or second session out. It was just too much too fast all at once. Yeah. Yes. And so I, annoyingly, to those that are listening and to myself, because in my mind, I can do these things. And then when I come to it, I burn skin off or, you know, I just have a bad experience with the gusto. And so I am learning in my year of the 50s that perhaps what I have to really commit to is just doing it. And doing it at a pace that. Speaker 2 (11:23) Incrementally. Yes. Speaker 1 (11:24) And that it's not all or nothing. And that not to feel bad about it. That starting slowly is starting. And that's. Yes. And it's starting. I like Speaker 2 (11:32) that. Speaker 1 (11:33) There's no rush. Nobody's grading me. Anyway, so I saw this on the class schedule. I go to this yoga studio to do a deep stretch class. You can't even call it yoga. And then I saw on there, I was like, oh, this is interesting. Like Tuesday, I could make that class. It's in the evening. There's weights. It's for seniors. Speaker 2 (11:56) We just try it once. We try it once. Try it once. And guess what? And Speaker 1 (12:01) I'm going to pay per class. I'm not going to do what I did last time and Speaker 2 (12:04) get into some sort of six-month Speaker 1 (12:06) package that I felt obligated and I was downing espresso shots to get through. Well, and that's why he had the diarrhea. Exactly. Speaker 2 (12:15) Your immigrant brain got turned that off because it's not a great deal if you don't go to it. You Speaker 1 (12:21) can't leave money like that on the table. That's stupid. I would rather have the fear of shitting my pants and getting through a terrible wait session that I should not be in than forego the cash I forked over for the class prepaid to get the discount. Speaker 2 (12:41) I mean, it's Speaker 1 (12:42) a snake eating its tail in that way. And guess what? We talked about forgiveness because I'm like. Of course. You live and you still learn. Speaker 2 (12:53) Look, we. I tried. Our friends at the Deep Dive say we are constant learners. We are. We're students for life. Students for Speaker 1 (13:02) life. Speaker 2 (13:02) We are, you know. And this is the course. Happy to be the student. Will always be one. Yeah. You know, I don't want you bodybuilding. That's not my goal. But we are at a certain age where we must, we must lift weights. We must. And however you figure out how to do it, I don't even know if this makes sense, if this helps the situation. throwing on a weighted vest as you walk around with your ears covered for spiders. If that's something, putting balabands on your ankles and on your wrists, you know, even just maybe during the day. But, you know, I'm worried about your bird bones. Speaker 2 (13:45) Let's not put it off too long is all I'm saying. No, I'm in agreement because Speaker 1 (13:51) I have many more seasons of life. I have big plans for the future, just so you know. And that all require me being mobile. So it will happen. It just won't happen the way that it happens for most people. Speaker 2 (14:08) Then that's fine. I think that's fair. I really do. Hey, folks, we're going to take a quick break, but why not have a call to action right now? Go to at Add to Cart pod. Go into the comments for this episode. Do you have any suggestions for Sue? Oh, I Speaker 1 (14:26) don't want that. In Speaker 2 (14:26) terms of continuing. What? I do. Speaker 1 (14:30)
