Speaker 1 (0:00) How whack is that though? You're watching two other people like... Speaker 2 (0:07) Hola, hola and welcome to Speaker 1 (0:09) Acércate a Dios and Stay Pretty, where we're all about exploring the journey of getting close to God and embracing our inner beauty. I am Angelica hanging out with my friend Josie and together we're going to dive into what it means to connect with God. Vamos a acercarnos a Él and stay pretty together. Bienvenidos a todos. Speaker 1 (0:33) Hello. Welcome back. Hi, guys. Welcome to Acércate a Dios and Stay Pretty. This is episode, I don't even know now. It's so weird, again, to be in person. We keep coming with new episodes and new conversations. Yeah. Speaker 2 (0:50) And this one is actually an interesting one. We've been friends for a while and I appreciate that. And I think part of the de lo que yo aprecio mucho de ti is like, you keep it real with me. Just like, I think I try to keep it real with you. So you do that too. So, um, I think that's the beauty of friendship, right? Like being able to. Speaker 2 (1:13) hold each other accountable, keep each other in check, being able to share the dark moments. We just had a little moment. Speaker 1 (1:20) Being Speaker 2 (1:21) able to share the good, the bad, the ugly and love each other through that. Right. And Speaker 1 (1:26) with the goal in mind of like, okay, girl, I need to go to heaven. I need your help. I want to see you in heaven. I want to see you, right? I want to see you, too. I want to be there with you. And sometimes it can be a little uncomfortable. Yeah. Speaker 1 (1:51) But if you have a good mindset, like there's no reason to get offended because it is meant to help us, right? So that's what we're going to talk about today is... Speaker 2 (2:10) Right. So how are we going to be honest with one another? And we did a little social media campaign. This was on for a couple of weeks ago. It was online. And so we're just kind of going to go through it. And we're going to talk a little bit about those quick hits. Speaker 2 (2:33) we talked about. So on the, if you guys go to our Instagram, it is asatkate.podcast on Instagram. Speaker 1 (2:41) You'll Speaker 2 (2:41) be able to see it. And the first one was... Speaker 1 (2:43) Dejel chisme. Speaker 2 (2:45) Stop gossiping. Do Speaker 1 (2:49) you even realize sometimes that we are gossiping? I don't know. Speaker 2 (2:52) Oh Speaker 1 (2:52) man. Or do you like even like, you Speaker 2 (2:55) know, when you find something out, you're like, oh, Speaker 1 (2:56) who am I going to tell? Who am I going to tell her? You know, that's recently. That has been my threshold for not saying anything. When I get that, it seems like I need to clean myself. Because if I hear something and right away I want to tell somebody, or I can't wait until I see this person, it's like I already know that that's not coming from a good place. Like, callate la boca. And, you know, be quiet. Because there's a, I think it's maybe human nature to just want to. Speaker 1 (3:31) and not negative like i i don't consider myself like a gossiper Speaker 2 (3:35) but Speaker 1 (3:36) even information that is like about celebrity like there's certain things that is just pointless yeah Speaker 2 (3:42) to Speaker 1 (3:42) share like what is the point of me even telling you that like what is that gonna do but then it's like there's a feeling of like oh i need to tell you that recently i'm like okay well we did Speaker 2 (3:52) an episode on this um not too long ago Speaker 1 (3:54) um no We did an episode on this in one of the seasons. I think the first season. Yeah, the first season. Oh, no. It was the last season. What was it? Spilling the beans. Spilling the Speaker 2 (4:04) beans. Yeah. I mean, we were talking about how it could be difficult to spill the beans. And one of the things that we talked about was like pausing, taking a time to pause and say, is this going to be fruitful for somebody? Is this going to be helpful for somebody? And is this necessary? Yeah. And then I think sometimes we drive, we're driven by emotion, you know, like. I was able to hold. hold something but I did it I did it because like I'm being honest here like I think I wanted to hold it because I wanted to keep it to myself and I wanted to be the one to tell other people like I didn't want to share it with somebody who I knew was going to spill the beans so was that ill-intended I mean you know it Speaker 1 (4:56) seems like you may have been seeking some sort of attention Speaker 1 (5:02) Some form of compliment or? Speaker 2 (5:05) No, no. And it wasn't like that. It was like, it was, it was, it wasn't, it was news. It was, it was sharing the information of something that happened. And so I didn't want that information shared. So I didn't share it with people I intentionally knew that are really good at communicating. Yeah. So I don't know. I mean, yeah. Like, does that count as? Yeah, I don't know. Speaker 1 (5:28) I think like, right. Like you said, like we have to stop. think and always because some information we should share right communicating is good and all um but right like is this ill intended is this gonna harm is this is there a reason is this pointless even because i do think sometimes we do share to kind of get that shock factor like oh look look at what she just did or look what happened here like it's kind of waiting to see that shock than somebody else. Speaker 2 (5:58) Right. Or we're fishing for compliments sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. No, you're right. So I think like, ¿Cómo podemos dejar el chismes? Speaker 1 (6:04) Let's reflect, self-reflection a little bit, right? Speaker 2 (6:08) Yeah. Speaker 1 (6:08) Self-reflection and then like, are you? Like you have to, I think we have to discern, are you chismosa? Speaker 1 (6:16) And chismosa, it could also apply like, you know, you're telling your mom too. Like, you don't talk to nobody else, but you still talk to your mom. Speaker 2 (6:25) It Speaker 1 (6:25) could be chisme, you know, and chisme is just any form of information that's... That could be harmful to somebody else. That Speaker 2 (6:33) could be harmful, Speaker 1 (6:33) right. Like, yeah, exactly. It could be harmful or ill-interpreted too. And sometimes, like, just worry about your own business. Right, Speaker 2 (6:41) right. Speaker 1 (6:42) Aren't you busy? I think like, I mean, as a mom, I don't know if you agree, like as a younger mom, I'm kind of walking away from that now as my kids get older. As a younger mom, you don't even care. No, you Speaker 2 (6:52) don't have time for that. You don't have time for that. Speaker 1 (6:54) No, you don't know what, who did what. Okay. Speaker 2 (6:56) Yeah. Speaker 1 (6:56) I'm in the middle of the seventh diaper change in the two hours, you know, like you're probably not even worried about it. So maybe like setting up our priorities and seeing like there's other important things to do than to. to spread and learn chisme. And I think in our cultures, like farándula, it's a big thing. Speaker 2 (7:17) Yeah. Oh, my God. Like, cuando chisme de Nodal y Ángel Aguilar y Casu, I was on it. And I needed to check myself. Like, so much that I was asking people, like, are you team Casu? Are you team? And they're like, right? I'm like, yeah, no, that's just not, it's not it. Speaker 1 (7:31) And then, you know what's crazy? We don't know them. Exactly. We don't. And Speaker 2 (7:35) we're Speaker 1 (7:35) already passing judgment Speaker 2 (7:36) on Speaker 1 (7:36) these. Speaker 2 (7:37) that you really don't know the real history about. Speaker 1 (7:40) And that it affects them, even like their fan bullet and all that, like their work, you know, so it's amazing to see like, yeah, they're public figures, but it still doesn't give us the right to just spread information. And then like the telephone game, how the information gets... From one person to the other. And Speaker 2 (7:59) it's Speaker 1 (7:59) like completely... I Speaker 2 (8:00) think, and so I think that's, I think... I was a victim of this. No, no, no. I think because, so the information that I retained was, I retained it because I didn't want the information to be part of that back and forth telephone, he said, she said type thing. And then one of the things that I want to get into the practice of, I've done it with my husband, but I want to do it with like, I want to do it in. Because I want to get into the habit of if I'm going to have a hard conversation that could potentially hurt someone's feelings or that could be interpreted as chisme, like a hard conversation, I want to take that conversation and have it with the person in front of the Blessed Sepulcher. Because being in front of Jesus, I need to be able to remember to think about the person, think about the person's dignity and not... and not be ill in my communication. Does that make sense? Yeah. Like, that's my intention, but I haven't done it. And I tell you, I've done it with my husband because it's easy. Like, we're both in adoration. And it's our time together, and we end up having hard conversations sometimes. Or within our prayer, we end up bringing hard situations to him, right? But I don't know. I've always, I've said, like, this is a really hard conversation. I think I want to have it in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Speaker 1 (9:24) That's amazing. Like, I've never thought about, like, yeah, let's go. I think that's amazing. And what ill will could you possibly say? Somebody who's in tune with an adoration. You're going to be gentle. You're going to try to be gentle at least. And I think it's important too that we know who we're talking to when we have information. For example, Speaker 1 (9:59) And I think it's discerning that because not everybody accepts, especially criticism. Not everybody accepts criticism the same way. So we have to be, you know, this is something that I always talk with my mom. Like, my mom is very honest, very transparent, but not everybody is going to accept that, you know? And so we need to be like, for my sake too, like, I need to know, like, okay, the way that I tell. Um. I tell my mom something that could be, or you, like, hey, like, you didn't do that right. You know, you didn't do that right. But if I say that to another friend, they'll be completely offended by it. They will be like, bro, like, they'll switch. Like, what, like, how dare you? Yeah. And it's like, you need to be careful how we talk to people. We need to talk to that person's heart, you know, how, where they are. And we can't come
