Tómate un cafecito with us for honest conversations on living our Catholic faith, the struggle, and finding that pretty glow. that's unique to every woman. Vamos a acercarnos a él and stay pretty together. Bienvenidos a todos. Speaker 1 (0:43) In this episode, we talk about exploring the journey of getting closer to God and embracing our inner beauty. We talk about why we started this podcast, the name, our patron saint, and we give you practical hacks for growing closer to God and beauty tips, which we like to call Cerca de Challenge and a Stay Pretty Tip. Speaker 1 (1:07) Bienvenidos, bienvenidos a todos. ¿Cómo están? Mi nombre es Josie y como dijo Angelica, we're here together. And just a little bit about me. I am Mexican. I am a Catholic mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister. Angelica and I met through our work in ministry together. Que ha sido un poquito de todo, you know. And well, now this is a new ministry that we're kind of starting to venture into. We are excited. Angelica, why don't you tell us a little bit about you? Speaker 2 (1:40) Yes. So I'm Angelica. I am a wife, a daughter and a mother as well as a sister. I also worked in ministry for a few years. And I have now left that to be at home with my kids. And so I am a new mom and a new wife. Still trying to figure Speaker 1 (2:00) it out. Speaker 2 (2:00) With Speaker 1 (2:00) a Speaker 2 (2:00) new ministry at home. And a new ministry at home. Right. That's right. So just trying to figure it out. Became the Speaker 1 (2:06) new ministry when they were born. Speaker 2 (2:08) That's right. Well, yeah. As soon as I got married. I'm super excited to do this with you, Josie. So I'm scared to. Speaker 1 (2:15) I know. I know. But the good kind of scared, not the one that is, right, not the one that's that, not the Speaker 2 (2:22) fear that they talk about. A mí no me gusta hablar. El que me conoce sabe que no me gusta hablar. Pero si tiene que ver con Dios, puedo hablar mucho. And that's really what happened with you. Like every time we looked at, it just turned into this deep conversation. Speaker 1 (2:37) Right. It was. And that's actually what started this whole thing. It was, hey, do you have a minute? And then we talk about what we wanted, what we needed at the moment. And then we just dive into something, something about life. And it was just good, good conversation. Angelica said we we started talking about just anything. And and then at the end, like we would say, oh, my gosh, we're both in big into beauty. And so we would be, oh, this beauty thing. But then somehow we would just find a way connecting it back to our faith. like anything always Speaker 2 (3:07) started with some issue or anything it could be something as simple like you saw something as simple as beauty something as simple as a product and it always turned into something deep about god our relationship with god and we always joke all this this would be a good episode right right right Speaker 1 (3:24) because we're gonna spit all this out again yeah Speaker 2 (3:27) yeah right now i'm doing it it feels like it was such a long time ago and it was i know you're talking about it yes Speaker 1 (3:33) yeah This baby has been sitting in the back burner for a couple of years and, you know, and we have a lot of people too that are like, oh, did you guys start it yet? And we're like, no, not yet, but we're going to, we're going to. So today's our official first recording. We have been, we said we've been talking about this, discerning about this. Discerning is kind of taking a moment to really, to really see if God is really calling us to this. Pero gracias a Dios estamos aquí. Con Dios, right? Speaker 2 (4:00) All throughout we've been asking and praying to God. Can I do that? Como vamos a hacer esto? Que cuales son las ideas? And it wasn't that hard to come up with all of these topics because like you said, we're very similar. Even before I became a mom, before I joined the mom club, it was like we Speaker 1 (4:16) had Speaker 2 (4:16) so many connections. Like las dos somos latinas, inmigrantes. Las dos queremos tener una relación con Dios. And so we found ourselves. connecting on so many things and found that there wasn't really a space for women like you and I. Right. But we're not like we're trying to do better. We're trying to be better. We're trying to be holy. We're not there yet 100 percent, but estamos tratando. ¿Cómo podemos llegar a la santidad? Speaker 1 (4:46) Right. Right. Yeah. So many times, so many times it would be like. The struggle is real and the struggle is real, right? The struggle is real. And part of that is recognizing that it is a struggle. I mean, but step by step in making conscious choices and saying no to things that we used to love before and saying yes to things that are not going to make us popular and that are not going to, you know, get us invited to that party anymore. But those are the kind of things that we are kind of okay doing. And I think a part of that too is the fact that that's what kind of brought us together. Now I'm saying no to these things, but I don't feel so bad about it. And, and you're saying no to these things and we are connecting in that way. So I really appreciate Speaker 2 (5:35) the times where I Speaker 1 (5:36) will come to you. Speaker 2 (5:38) And you just kept it real with me, you know, and that's what I need, because I think we often find ourselves talking to people who in the church and they might not be straight up, you know, because of fear or whatever. But you always told me like, yes and no, you know, like it was clear. I'm like, you know, think about this, this is not from God. And I'm like, well, that actually is a wake up call. And that's why it's Speaker 1 (5:59) so Speaker 2 (5:59) good and so necessary to be able to have Speaker 1 (6:02) friends and have Speaker 2 (6:03) these real conversations with them. Speaker 1 (6:05) Right. We hold ourselves accountable to that. And as those were still growing in that sense, in so many ways, you know, we said, estamos casadas. So como ser una mejor esposa, como ser una mejor mamá, como ser mejores hermanas, mejores hijas, which are struggles too, because, you know, there's
